Privacy Policy

Information you provide

To create an account we require your name, a username, an email address, and a phone number. A phone number can only be linked to one account.

You may also add a profile photo, a short bio, and your country and city — chosen from a fixed list of places we operate in.

As you use the marketplace you provide listing content (titles, descriptions, photos, and what you want in exchange), messages to other users, swap proposals, handover confirmation photos, ratings, and any reports you file.

We record your language preference and the version of the Terms you accepted, with the date.

Information collected automatically

We count how many times a listing is viewed, and we record which of your devices has registered for push notifications. A push registration stores a notification token and an identifier we generate for that installation — it is not an advertising identifier and not a device serial number.

We do not use any analytics, advertising, attribution, or crash-reporting service. There is no tracking software in our apps or website.

We never collect precise location. Location on JustSwap means a country and city you pick from a list; the app does not read GPS and does not ask for location permission.

Our hosting providers keep standard server logs (including IP addresses) for security and reliability, as any web service does.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

• Operate core features — accounts, listings, search, messaging, proposals, and ratings.
• Keep the community safe — detect abuse, review reports, and enforce our rules.
• Provide support and respond to your requests.
• Improve the product and understand how it's used.
• Send service emails such as verification and password resets.

What other people can see

Your profile is public: your name, username, photo, bio, country and city, your join date, your listings, your rating and review count, and your follower and following counts. Your follower and following lists can also be viewed.

Your email address and phone number are never shown on your profile.

Messages are visible to the people in that conversation. Our moderators can also read message content when investigating a report or a safety issue — we do not read messages routinely, and messages are not end-to-end encrypted.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

We use a small number of providers to run the service: Supabase (accounts, database, file storage and realtime updates), Railway (hosting for our API), Expo (issues the push notification token for your installation), and Resend (delivers our account emails, such as verification and password resets).

We may disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to investigate abuse, fraud, or a threat to someone's safety.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and your browser's local storage for essential things — keeping you signed in, remembering your language, and remembering your light or dark theme. We don't use them for third-party advertising.

Data retention and deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself at any time: in the app go to Settings → Delete account, or on the web visit justswap.me/account/delete. If you can no longer sign in, the same web page lets you send us a deletion request, which we action within 30 days.

Deleting is immediate and cannot be undone. We permanently remove your profile details (name, username, email, phone, photo, bio and location), take every listing off the marketplace, and delete your saved items, follows, blocks, notifications, registered devices, your profile photo and your listing photos.

A limited amount of activity is kept so that other people keep their own history and so we can still act on abuse reports: messages you already sent inside other people's conversations, records of swaps you took part in, ratings exchanged, handover confirmation photos the other person relies on as proof, and any safety reports you filed or that were filed about you. Your name is removed from these and you appear only as "Deleted user".

We keep this residual record because it protects the other people involved and prevents someone from erasing evidence of abuse by deleting their account. Backups may retain data for a short period before they rotate.

Your rights and choices

You can view and update most of your information from your profile and settings, and you can delete your account yourself at any time (see the section above).

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Children

JustSwap is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account, and the service is not directed to children.

We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse or exploitation. Our Child Safety Standards explain what is prohibited, how to report it, and how we respond.
