Safety
Swap safely
Swapping in person is safe when you take a few sensible precautions. Here's how to protect yourself and your things.
Last updated 20 June 2026Meet in a safe, public place
Arrange handovers in a busy public spot during daylight — a mall, a café, or a designated 'safe exchange zone' where one is available. Avoid private homes and isolated locations, and bring a friend along when you can.
Inspect before you swap
Check that each item matches its listing and actually works before you hand anything over. Power it on, test the important functions, and look it over carefully. If something feels off, it's always fine to walk away.
Keep it a swap — never send money
JustSwap is barter only. Money, deposits, gift cards, and bank transfers should never be part of a deal. Anyone who asks you to pay, to 'reserve' an item, or to move to an outside payment app is almost certainly trying to scam you.
Check who you're dealing with
Look at the other person's profile — their completed-swap count, rating, and reviews give you a sense of their track record. Keep the whole conversation inside JustSwap so there's a record if anything goes wrong.
Protect your account and privacy
Use a strong, unique password and never share verification codes with anyone. Don't put sensitive personal details in listings or chats, and be careful about revealing your exact home address.
Report anything suspicious
If a user or listing looks fraudulent, pressures you, or breaks the rules, use the report button. Reports are confidential — and when enough people report the same listing, it's automatically hidden from the marketplace.
